 |
In the "Royal Prämonstatenser Kanonie Strahov" in Prague on Thursday the 21 of May 2009 a grand exhibition opens which will give an intensive look into the world of illuminated manuscripts throughout the course of history. “Three thousand years of miniatures – book art or illustration from across 5 cultures”, is not only the title of the show, but also the slogan for the entire exhibition.
Now visitors can enjoy a fascinating overview of Carolingian masterpiece miniatures of late Middle Age manuscripts from Papyrus Ani to splendiferous Ottonian codices through true-to-original fine art facsimile editions from ADEVA.
The codices featured represent the entire range of those from the late Middle Ages to manuscripts of the Gent-Bruges School and impart one with a deep insight into other cultures as well as an impression of their own creative strength: Byzantium, Indian and the mysterious pre-Columbian America.
The exhibition will run from May 22 to June 28, 2009 and is open from 9am to 12 pm and 12:30 pm to 5 pm in the Romanic section of the monastery Stahov, Stahovske nadvori 1/32, 118 00 Prague 1.
Entrance is free.
