Haydn´s anthem for the emperor – now available! |

Between 1796 and 1797, Haydn composed the hymn "Gott! Erhalte Franz den Kaiser" in compliment to the Habsburg Emperor Franz II. This masterpiece was then for more than 120 years the national anthem of the Habsburg Monarchy and afterwards up to now is the National Antham of Germany. ADEVA is publishing this edition again on the occasion of the 200th deathday of Josef Haydn in 2009. The original is today kept in the Music collection of the Austrian National Library in Vienna with the signature Mus. Hs. 16.501.
